Dexter Morgan is a very interesting character. He is very mysterious and a lot of people he works with are skeptical about him. He is a compelling and likeable character because he is a serial killer who kills serial killers. According to the episode when he was younger he had thoughts of killing people so his step father decided that he could use that for good and kill people who kill. He is likeable because he is an attractive man who does somewhat of a "good" thing. He is also a forensic scientist for the police department so this gives him the insight on who the killers are. The ideas about serial killers and justice that the show promotes is that Dexter believes he should punish people who have done wrong. He finds the serial killers and kills them in a disturbing way. The interesting part i find about the episode is that there is no justice for what he does. In a real world the police would still be on the look out for serial killers and when he kills them they might not know that the person is dead and waist their time still looking. Obviously this is a television show but i do think that is an aspect of the show that they should consider talking about. I have not seen any other episodes so i am not sure if they go into this in the future or not. I am using my information strictly from the pilot episode. The show capitalizes on the public fascination with certain serial killers basically because it focuses on Dexter. He is a very special type of serial killer that the public fascinates about.
Overall, i am excited that you had us view this episode because i am going to keep watching the show because i thought it seemed like a good show. It was a bit gory sometimes but i am still going to keep watching it.
